Madrid Landmarks Tour of the Old City

Here are some pictures we took yesterday. Our guide, Leticia , was full of interesting historical  facts and stories  about a city we think we know but we learned so much more from her. Her enthusiasm helped us understand the nature of los madrileños, why they are known as cats and also why they all know their way around their city but never seem to know the names of the streets! We also learnt the great importance of the equestrian statue of  King Philip III and she pointed out more places to go back to and visit and where to buy delicious smelling pastries from an old convent bakery. This enchanting part of the city made everyone fall in love again with Madrid!

 

  

 

 

Topic 21st November

Arabian journalist, Jamal Khashoggi, did not emerge from the Saudi Arabian consulate in Istanbul on 2-10- 2018 after entering to obtain papers to finalise a divorce so that he could marry his fiancée. He had an appointment arranged a few days before and flew over from Washington to attend it.

In keeping with ´temas de actualidad ´ we would like to  propose a discussion on this horrendous crime.

Freedom Of Speech

Our talk last week about the expression snowflake led us to the term politically correct and this has led us to the issue of  freedom of speech which will be our topic for November 14th.
