LETZ ZEP to Led Zeppelin

Double necked guitar played on Stairway to heaven
AUDREY WRITES:

Letz Zep are a British Led Zeppelin tribute band who formed in 2008 and have been on tour virtually ever since, bringing Led Zeppelin's music to new audiences throughout the UK, Europe and the rest of the world.  They usually begin a strenuous touring year in Spain in January and February and announce the itinerary beforehand in the gig listings on their website, www.letzzep.com

The band's members collectively possess the necessary musical skills to be capable of reproducing the sound of Led Zeppelin at their very best. This means that a two to three hour concert is likely to include classics such as Good Times Bad Times, Rock and Roll, No Quarter, Dazed and Confused, Kashmir, Immigrant Song, Stairway to Heaven, Whole Lotta Love, and on the slower side, songs like Thank You, Since I've Been Loving You, Ramble On, as well as acoustic songs, Tangerine, Going to California, Bron-Y-Aur Stomp.

I am a long time fan of the band and I found out about Letz Zep purely by chance in 2011. I went to see them and came away absolutely amazed by how good they were. I would have been content to only have seen them once if only once was all that would have been possible but thanks to their love of playing in Spain, I've been able to see them in subsequent years and that 'good' keeps on getting better and better :)

I can fully recommend Letz Zep to anyone who likes Led Zeppelin and would like to experience a great live performance of their timeless rock classics.

The photo is from the 2014 concert venue to which they returned in 2016:
Circulo de Arte in Toledo. This historic building, a medieval church, once used for meetings of the Knights Templar in the days of the Crusades was a impressive setting for this music.

La tristesse infinie

Beautiful Brussels

Shortly after the attacks, Belgians used the hashtags #OpenHouse, #PorteOuverte and #ikwilhelpen, on Twitter and offer rides to stranded people.

Flower carpets in La Grande Place.
Share your thoughts here about this warm welcoming city.
Biddy writes
'I call it suitcase city as  everyone seems to be moving around with a suitcase.
It is a buzz of activity and there are all kinds of multicultural happenings on day and night. Cars patiently let bikers and other people pass by. The city isn't as well cared for as you would expect. Everyone seems to speak at least three languages and that's not surprising as Belgium has two official languages. Flemish speakers try hard to get people to learn their language too. It is a  city that is full of young people from all over the world who rapidly find their niche and are soon  exploring every corner with new friends babbling away, moving in and out of three or four languages at a time!'

Our walk

Here are some pictures we took yesterday.

Definitely worth a visit and we will certainly go back. Our only difficulty was getting there as going by bus was not a great idea. The 827 followed by the 716 takes you relatively close. Happily, Nerea's mum came to our rescue and saved us from getting lost. We were surprised to see so many donkeys in one place and they had all kinds of farm aninals too. The speaker said that the donkey species has been of great service to mankind and now that we don't need it, we mistreat it, even though everyone seems to have a great affection for donkeys, especially Audrey and Nerea:) With the existence of animal sanctuaries such as Burrolandia, we can compensate and show affection and help (with a couple of kilos of carrots ) to make a friendly donkey's day.

Today's the first day of spring.

Our walk today will be to Burrolandia.

This is a place in Tres Cantos that rescues and looks after donkeys. It is open to the public from 10:00h to 12:30h on Sundays.
It looks amazing and we love the idea.

It is also on the way to El Castillo de Viñuelas, a lovely castle that you can see from the Dehesa Boyal, the woodland that we have in San Sebastián de los Reyes-

That view of the castle from the top of the Dehesa across the green fields is like a picture postcard.

We are meeting at 10.30h at the train station of Valdelasfuentes. Looking forward to it!

Our news

Isabel moved with her family to Melbourne from Spain three years ago and yesterday she gave us a talk about  her new life there.
Australians can be very proud of the impression they have made as she described their cheerfuness, kindness, helpfulness and  honesty. Yes, they live up to their reputation. Friendly to the environment and  friendly to people. Totally enamoured by its sheer diversity, she also told us about the flame tree or fire tree. Here is a picture.

Next week we will go back to the topic Luis prepared.

Felisa has updated our books and you can click on the link on the right to browse through them.
Any time you need a paperback, you know where to come.

On Tuesday we begin our St Patrick's Day celebration by telling our stories at the library.
There are many things lined up to do in good company.

A hundred years

It is a big year  in Dublin with the centenary of the
