EL PASEO SAN PATRICIO DEL DOMINGO/ SUNDAY'S ST. PATRICK'S DAY WALK

It was a beautiful blustery March morning as we set off on our San Patricio walk to celebrate spring. Audrey was the only one to wear a hat but I think she'll set a trend.
No dogs and no big Guiness hats this year but we'll do better next year.

As we reached the top of the Dehesa Boyal in San Sebastián de los Reyes, we had splendid views over the green fields of wheat to Colmenar and Tres Cantos.

Looking in the other direction Madrid's big towers stood out against a clear blue sky.

The evergreen oak (encinas) is a beautiful short sturdy tree that has acorns (bellotas) much loved by the wild-boar (jabalí) so it came as no surprise to see some soil dug up near the roots of one tree.
Walking back we passed the hawthorn bush  above right which will  soon be covered in white flowers and host a butterfly colloquially known in Spanish as chupaleche. Below is an ornamental plum tree.

The annual walk is a good time to talk about the association and the direction it will take as well as every other topic under the sun. It epitomises what we do in ASEDOW, take the pressure off and enjoy lifelong learning.

This ties in very nicely with the topic of the talking group for Wednesday which is 'happiness'.
