WRITE A STORY AND WIN A PRIZE - II EDITION

¡YA TENEMOS LOS GANADORES!

Estos son los resultados del jurado irlandés

Resultado Junior

WE HAVE THE WINNERS!

Here are the results from the Irish jury

Result for Juniors
This was a difficult category to judge because we liked all the stories and thought they were very imaginative and exciting. In the end we had to choose one story and agreed that Ainoa Quirce - aged just ten - should be the winner because she told a story very clearly and it ended very happily. We also highly commend the story by Maria Lopez Dominguez because she describes her prince and princess so well that we could almost draw a picture of them.

Result for the Group Effort
Again it was difficult to choose a winner because it was clear that the groups had put a lot of effort into their stories. We decided to pick the story by Miguel, Marta and Cristina because it was full of adventures in different countries. It would make a very exciting movie.

Result for Seniors
We are all agreed that the award should go to Eva Rodriguez Bartolome for her story The Happy Prince which is both original and funny.

Our congratulations go to all who entered the competition. We were very impressed by the standard of English and the originality of the stories.

Well done also the Asociacion Educativa Oscar Wilde for encouraging the cultural and literary links between Ireland and Spain.

Blooming bushes - the hawthorn is white with flower

...and the scent fills the air. Where? Well, again Metro Baunatal, walk down Av. Rosa Luxemburgo to a tree lined walk by a stream you'll see la floración del espino.

PAPERBACK BOOK EXCHANGE

Imagine books moving from place to place instead of sitting on shelves all the time.
Help them do just that.
Some books are hard to part with.
Others are light reading and visitors usually leave them behind.
Swop them for something new.
Come and stock up on some light reading.

HERE ARE THE DIRECTIONS

Leave Metro Baunatal and find Av Baunatal. Pass the theatre on the left, continue up the road until you come to a very new and lovely building on the right near El monumento de los toros.
This is La Biblioteca Central and the books will be waiting for you on the ground floor.

JUJIJO in SANSE

Yesterday at I.E.S. Joan Miró the students were enthralled as they watched two live performances in English of Shakespeare's Tempest and Macbeth. You think that is impossible? Not with the interpretations of Julie, Jim and Jonathan. The total absorption of the audience was theatre at its best and most magical. What a gift.

Story competition

COME ON BOYS AND GIRLS! We need more stories. Of course it's not easy but you can try. Give it a go! It doesn't have to be long. Better short and sweet

Reinventing the Pub Quiz

How lucky we are with our sponsors, Nuba and Food Hall!!! A great place and great prizes! The difference this time was that the participants took turns to read the questions...some of them were downloaded from quizknight (the questions!). As always people were asking who on earth would know that?! It's not easy to find a happy balance between the OBVIOUS and the OBSCURE.
We will upload some pictures but we have to wait for Hugo to get back to Ireland for that and maybe we will upload the quiz questions and answers too.

Do you know the way to San José....

.....the song says but change it to San Sebastián de los Reyes. If you want to come to our Pub Quiz (April) and Paperback Exchange (May) you may need these directions.... Take the metro to Baunatal which must be one of the nicest metro stops in Madrid. Not everybody knows that San Sebastián de los Reyes is twinned with Baunatal, a lovely town near Kassel in Germany. Come out of the metro , turn left and cross the road and you have a nice view on a clear day of the sierra.

But you have to turn left again and go up Av Lomas del Rey towards Alcobendas. Do you remember Penelope Cruz saying, 'I grew up in a town called Alcobendas? ' when she received her Oscar? Bravo Penelope! As you come to Alcobendas you will see a roundabout with an owl on a pedestal. Now you have to look for a bar called Nuba. Go in and notice the lovely tiles imported from Africa. You have arrived and we will be there waiting for you. Bring a pen! Saturday 9th April 19h. Good luck!

Thursday get togethers

This will happen on the first Thursday of each month in La Casa de la Juventud San Sebastán de los Reyes at 20h so the next one will be on the 7th April.
